Sunday began the next series of class on prayer. My desire is to create an atmosphere that is inviting into one's life of a desire and joy of praying. Over the years many if not all of us have made commitments and vows to pray more and longer. What begins as noble intentions usually turn on us when we neglect those commitments and we find ourselves in guilt, shame and failure. We then begin to do the one thing that Paul tell us in 2 Corinthians 10:12 not to do; "For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise."
Galatians 5:1 tells us, "It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery."
My prayer for you is that you would know the freedom that Jesus desires for you to have and be free from all the guilt of unkept vows no matter how good your intentions were. Repent for comparing yourself to others that appear to be might prayer warriors and thenpray from your stand in freedom of Christ and not from self bondage!
